Self-publishing

can be extremely rewarding and fulfilling. But it can be equally frustrating and the journey can be a long one. What's great is that so much information on the subject has been released. From guides, to books, to courses, to videos... the resources available to a beginning author are numerous. However, sorting through all of that information can be overwhelming!

Wouldn't it be great if there were someone that could help you along your journey? That could sift through the information with you?

That's where we come in.

The Tampa Bay Black Authors Expo is more than just an event. It is a platform for Black literary creatives to flourish. By building a network of industry professionals, we've been able to utilize each other's strengths to help each other grow.

When you book a consultation, you'll be matched with one of those industry professionals based upon your responses to the Consultation Request Form. During the consultation you'll have an opportunity to connect with another Black creative that not only has "been there, done that", but that cares enough to not want to see you make the same mistakes.

Here at the TBBAE, we are all about writing our legacies into existence and we believe that everyone has a story to tell. So why not get some help in bringing yours to life?

FAQ

What is the consultation process like?

Once a consultation is paid for and we have received your Consultation Request Form, you will be emailed within 1 to 2 business days.

In that email you will be matched with the TBBAE staff that is best suited to address your concerns. They will let you know when they are available for consultation, and the two of you will confirm an appointed time and day for your consultation.

Who will be doing the consulting?

The Tampa Bay Black Authors Expo staff is comprised of several individuals, including Tonisha Kimble and Jeff White. Our team has experience in various aspects of the publishing industry ranging from bookselling to being a self-employed writer, ghost writing, editing, self-publishing, the comic book industry, and graphic designing.

How are the consultations conducted?

Consultations are conducted either over the phone or by video chat. This question is on the Consultation Request Form and should be completed so that we know what you are most comfortable with.

Consultations last an hour. If more than an hour is needed, this must be discussed BEFORE meeting. The additional time must be agreed upon and paid for BEFORE the initial hour begins.

If at the end of your consultation, you feel more time is needed, you would need return to the website to book another consultation.

Consultations can be ended at any time, by either the TBBAE staff or the participant. The conversation would be ended if it becomes inappropriate or abusive in any way. In that case, there would be no refund.

What will be done with the consultation fee?

The consultation fee will be evenly divided between the Tampa Bay Black Authors Expo and the consulting team member.
